If your company administrator has granted you access to process draft bill of lading in your user profile, you will be able to perform the following actions on the draft bill of lading document:
CargoSmart has a set of predefined rules that governs what actions are available to the user for draft bills of lading. For more information, please refer to Bill of Lading Actions Available.
When a draft bill of lading is received
from the carrier, CargoSmart will send an e-mail to all the users of a
company receiving the bill of lading who have Draft Bill of Lading rights
to notify them that a new draft bill of lading is ready for further processing.
You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed
on your computer in order to view individual documents when using Standard
Print.
From My CargoSmart Center:
Choose a Carrier
Enter the Bill of Lading Number, the Booking Number, or Choose the Type 'Draft' and the status of the document.
Select Go to begin searching
Choose a bill of lading with document type 'Ver x.x Draft'
Select
View in the Actions
Available column to view the selected Bill of Lading Document
The document will change its status to Viewed
Select the Print button of the Adobe Acrobat Reader to print the document
Select Refresh to reload the search results window
Select the check-box of the selected Bill of Lading Document to add it to the list of documents to be printed by batch (You can Batch Print a maximum of 10 documents at a time)
Select Print to open the Batch Print Summary window
Select Remove to remove the selected Bill of Lading Documents from the list of documents to be printed
Select Print Now to print the list of documents
Tips:
As a reminder, always view the document before you request changes or
accept a draft.
You should select the Refresh button
to refresh the Bill of Lading Internet Processing screen after you have
performed an action.
For all selected documents, Batch Printing requires that the B/L paper
size match. For individual and Batch Printing options, Carrier Stationery
is available.

Tips:
For all selected documents, Batch Printing requires that the B/L Format

Actions available are dependent on the status of individual documents.
Make sure that you do not print secure documents intended for viewing
only. Always refresh the screen after printing.
If you wish to sort your search results
by Party or Vessel Voyage, you can choose from one of the following filter
options:
From the Search Results:
Select
a Filter by option:
- All Documents
- Party
- Vessel Voyage
Select Go
Tip: The Filter by option is set to All Documents by default.
If you select the Party option:
Select
the Party type option from the
pop-up window
- Shipper
- Consigner
- Forwarder
Select the company from the list
Click Select
If you select the Vessel Voyage option:
Select the Vessel Voyage option from the list in the pop-up window
Click Select
You can request changes to be made to the contents of the draft Bill of Lading and submit them to the carrier. The carrier will prepare a new version of the draft Bill of Lading and send it to CargoSmart.
From My CargoSmart Center:
Choose a Carrier
Enter the Bill of Lading Number, or Choose the Type of the draft you want to receive
Select the status of draft
Select Go
Choose a bill of lading with document type 'Ver x.x Draft'
Select
Request Change in
the Actions Available column
Enter your own personal contact information
Select the Reason for submitting this change
Enter Remarks regarding the change
Select
Request Change to
submit the request
The document will change its status to Change Requested
Tips:
The carrier contact e-mail address associated with this bill of lading
document is listed above the Contact Information section. This information
will assist you if you need to contact the carrier directly via e-mail.
You may perform multiple change requests on the same version of a draft
Bill of Lading.
The Accept action
will be removed after you have submitted a change request.
You should select the Refresh button
to refresh the Bill of Lading Internet Processing screen after you have
performed an action.
After you have verified the contents of a draft Bill of Lading, you may accept the draft bill of lading and instruct the carrier to prepare an original bill of lading.
